A family’s love, baked into every bite.
The Family Affair Cupcakes began in the warmest place of all — our home. It started with three of us: my mother, my sister, and me. We all shared a love for baking and would spend time making sweet treats and cakes for our family — just for fun, and often as heartfelt gifts. The joy it brought and the kind words we received inspired us to turn our little hobby into something more.
In 2013, we took the leap and started selling our homemade desserts. It was small at first — my sister and I were still in school — but we built our business the old-fashioned way: through word of mouth and genuine care in everything we made. As orders grew, so did our love for the craft.
Life, as it does, took its turns. School got busier, and later, the pandemic forced us to pause. But my passion never faded. After some time, I decided to bring The Family Affair Cupcakes back — this time on my own. My mother was now a proud grandmother, and my sister, a devoted working mom. Though they’re no longer involved in the day-to-day, their spirit and support still live in every part of this business.
None of us come from a culinary background — we’re self-taught, guided by my mother’s love for baking and endless trial and error (with help from YouTube, of course!). What we lacked in formal training, we made up for in heart.
This business is more than just cakes to me. It’s a piece of my family, a piece of my story, and a dream I’ve carried for years. I may not be the world’s best baker or decorator, but every cake is made with sincerity, care, and so much love.
